It is a lightweight process framework for agile development, and the most widely-used one. A “process framework” is a particular set of practices that must be followed in order for a process to be consistent with the framework. What are Agile methodologies in software development? Update Cancel. Ad by Jira Software, Atlassian. With Dos and Don’ts, best practices, and process best practices, it sure does make a good read. What are the myths surrounding agile methodologies for software development? Agile methods or Agile processes generally promote a disciplined project management process that encourages frequent inspection and adaptation, a leadership philosophy that encourages teamwork, self-organization and accountability, a set of engineering best practices intended to allow for rapid delivery of high-quality. Agile has replaced as the development methodology of choice in most companies, but is itself at risk of being eclipsed or consumed by the growing popularity of. Twelve principles of the Agile Manifesto In 2001, 17 software development professionals gathered to discuss concepts around the idea of lightweight software development and ended up creating the. The Manifesto outlines the core values of Agile, and although there has been debate about whether the Manifesto has outlived its usefulness, it continues at the core of the Agile movement. Included in the Manifesto are concepts that were revolutionary at the time, including the emphasis on people and communication, rather than on processes and tools. Other key parts of the Manifesto include working directly with and satisfying customers, breaking all work down into small chunks, meeting daily to ensure work is on track and being open to changes even at the very end of the process. Types of Agile methodologies In any Agile environment, it is likely there are several Agile methodologies being used. One of the oldest of these is, which is based on the idea that for successful development to happen quickly, testing must be done regularly. In many cases, the tests must be written even before the code. Another Agile methodology that is widely used is. Scrum brings everyone on the team, including the business stakeholders, together to agree on features. Then, specific goals are set for a 30-day, at which point the agreed-upon software is delivered. Some Agile proponents emphasize Lean development, or, which strips software development down to the basics. Feature-driven, or can also be used in an Agile environment, depending on the needs of the organization. Advantages of Agile Much has been compared over the years with Agile versus Waterfall approaches. In the Waterfall era of software development, coders worked alone, with little to no input before handing the software to testers and then on to production., complications and feature changes either weren't handled well, or were dealt with so late in the process that projects were seriously delayed or even scrapped. Agile Methodology SoftwareThe idea the behind Agile model, in which everyone -- including the business side -- stayed involved and informed in the development process, represented a profound change in both the culture and a company's ability to get better software to market more quickly. Collaboration and communication became as important as technology, and because the Agile Manifesto is open to interpretation, Agile has been adapted and modified to fit organizations of all sizes and types. The Agile cultural shift also paved the way for the latest software development evolution, DevOps. Disadvantages of Agile Many would say the biggest disadvantage of Agile is the fact it has been modified -- some would say diluted -- by many organizations. This phenomenon is so widespread that the 'Agile my way' practitioners are known as 'Scrumbuts,' as in, 'We do Scrum in our organization, but.' 6 Stages of the Agile Development Life Cycle • Scope out and prioritize projects • Diagram requirements for the initial sprint • Construction/iteration • Release the iteration into production • Production and ongoing support for the software release • Retirement Innovate or die. If tech companies want to remain relevant in a fast-paced, ever-changing industry, software development teams need a way to push their products forward as much as possible in a short time frame. The agile software development methodology was developed specifically for the rapid development and deployment of software. Learn the stages involved in the agile software development life cycle (SDLC) to determine whether this process will fit your team’s needs. Agile Software Development Life Cycle Overview (Click on image to modify online) 1. Scope out and prioritize projects During the first step of the agile software development life cycle, the team scopes out and prioritizes projects. Some teams may work on more than one project at the same time depending on the department’s organization. For each concept, you should define the business opportunity and determine the time and work it’ll take to complete the project. Based on this information, you can assess technical and economic feasibility and decide which projects are worth pursuing. Diagram requirements for the initial sprint Once you have identified the project, work with stakeholders to determine requirements. You might want to use user flow diagrams or high-level UML diagrams to demonstrate how the new feature should function and how it will fit into your existing system. User Journey Flow Template (Click on image to modify online) From there, select team members to work on the project and allocate resources. Create a or a swimlane process map in Lucidchart to delineate responsibilities and clearly show when certain work needs to be completed for the duration of the sprint. Sas software training in hyderabad any gacolagiest. For example, our product team created the following diagram to visualize how the team would implement the Print & Ship feature for Lucidpress, Lucidchart’s sister product. The columns show each team member’s workload, and the rows show the work completed during each sprint. Construction/iteration Once a team has defined requirements for the initial sprint based on stakeholder feedback and requirements, the work begins. UX designers and developers begin work on their first iteration of the project, with the goal of having a working product to launch at the end of the sprint. Remember, the product will undergo various rounds of revisions, so this first iteration might only include the bare minimum functionality. The team can and will have additional sprints to expand upon the overall product. Release the iteration into production You’re nearly ready to release your product into the world. Finish up this software iteration with the following steps: • Test the system. Your quality assurance (QA) team should test functionality, detect bugs, and record wins and losses. • Address any defects. • Finalize system and user documentation. Lucidchart can help you visualize your code through UML diagrams or demonstrate user flows so everyone understands how the system functions and how they can build upon it further. • Release the iteration into production. Production and ongoing support for the software release This phase involves ongoing support for the software release. In other words, your team should keep the system running smoothly and show users how to use it. The production phase ends when support has ended or when the release is planned for retirement. Retirement During the retirement phase, you remove the system release from production, typically when you want to replace a system with a new release or when the system becomes redundant, obsolete, or contrary to your business model. Agile software development sprint planning Within the agile SDLC, work is divided into sprints, with the goal of producing a working product at the end of each sprint. Jun 24, 2009 - Hello: Tab key and Shift+Tab Key stopped stopped working. With 'bullets' the tab key will not indent the bullet and the Shift+Tab key will not. Many people use ‘Tab’ to indent something in, but this can during editing (e.g. Having to delete gaps when combining paragraphs in an ). As such, the alternative indentation options in Word are a better choice in most cases. Basic Indentation The indentation options control how far text is from the margins. To increase or reduce the indentation from the left margin, all you need to do is click the relevant buttons in the ‘Paragraph’ section of the ‘Home’ tab on the main ribbon. Increase or reduce the indent. However, for more control over indentation, you need to click the little arrow in the bottom right of the ‘Paragraph’ section to open the main menu ( Format > Paragraph in Word for Mac). One you’ve accessed the main menu, you’ll see a section called ‘Indentation’. The ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ boxes here allow you to set a custom indentation value for selected text. Indentation options. Most of the time, you’ll be indenting something from the left margin. However, if you set the ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ indentations to the same value, you can position text in the centre of the page without having to change the. Special Indentations The ‘Indentation’ section of the paragraph menu also includes a ‘Special’ section. This offers two different types of indentation that you might need to use: • First line – This option lets you indent only the first line in a paragraph. This is roughly equivalent to hitting tab at the start of a paragraph, but you can also select a custom value. Some style guides recommend using this instead of to show where paragraphs begin and end. However, this is quite rare in modern academic writing. First line indented. • Hanging – A ‘hanging’ indent is applied to lines after the first one in a paragraph. This is common in reference lists, with some systems (e.g. ) requiring use of a hanging indent for references. Make sure to check your style guide if you’re not sure whether to use hanging indents in your work. An APA reference list with hanging indents. With both of these ‘special’ indentations, all you need to do is select the required option and set the value accordingly (e.g. A hanging indent in a reference list is usually about 1.27cm). Mirror Indents There is also a ‘Mirror indents’ option in the paragraph menu. If you click this, the indentation options change from ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ to ‘Inside’ and ‘Outside’. This can be useful if you are printing on both sides of the paper. Mirrored indents. Essentially, ‘mirroring’ means that odd and even pages are ‘mirrored’ so that indentations are applied in relation to the place where pages meet. This ensures that indentations are consistent throughout the document. Microsoft Word Tab Indentation No Longer WorksheetsThe idea here is the same as with. As such, you may want to use mirror indents if you are also using mirrored margins. •, su support.microsoft.com. •, Microsoft. Customer Service Speaker Discusses Hotel Tipping Policies Go to to learn more about Shep Hyken, customer service speaker and expert. For a blog post of this video, visit: Professional speaker and New York Times bestselling author, Shep Hyken, discusses a hotel tipping policy gone wrong. Important: This video is not about tipping etiquette. This is an observation of a very nice hotel that left a bad impression. So, hang in there with me. There?s a point at the end of the story. Here in the United States we?re expected to tip people for good service. Standard gratuity for a server at a restaurant is 15%. If the server does a great job, many times people tip 20%. At hotels we tip the doorman who gets you a cab, the bellman who carries your bags to your room, and others who help you along the way. So, what about the housekeeping staff? These are the people that make your bed, clean your room, and make sure you have clean towels. And when do you do tip? At the beginning of the stay? Some have said that TIP means? To Insure Promptness (or Performance)? However my research indicates that this may be a myth. Still, I usually tip the hotel?s housekeeping staff a few dollars a day. Recently I stayed at a nice hotel and was upgraded to a beautiful suite. On the nightstand there was an envelope that had instructions on tipping the housekeeper. I first thought this was a bit presumptuous, but I went with it. I was staying for three nights so I put a twenty dollar bill in the envelope and wrote a note that said,?Thank you for taking care of me during my stay at your hotel. The next day I came back to the room and noticed that the envelope had been taken and there was a new, fresh white envelope, waiting for another tip. What was missing was a note that said,?Thank you.? At least something that indicated the housekeeper got and appreciated the tip. At checkout the front desk clerk asked me how my stay was. I told her great, but I did have one issue. Cancelling an Appointment - Business English Lessons - Spoken English Videos There are times when you may not be able to keep an appointment. While flipped learning is undoubtedly effective, we can also improve learning by flipping students’ mindsets In 1970, I started using flipped learning for a Criminal Law course in community colleges. Then, in 1973, I won a million-dollar contract from the U.S. Army to develop multimedia lessons for their 1125 self-paced, mastery learning centers. Business Flipping MasteryAlso, with the Flipped model, the self-pacing component in the elementary grades can be challenging. You will need to teach time management. Being a fifth grade teacher who flipped her math class last year, i realized time is an abstract concept for my 10 year olds. Then the house is complete and they get same crazy amount for the neighborhood. I feel like a fair advertisement would have disclosed that flipping houses isn’t like Flip This House which was prominently marketed in the radio commercial. If you spend that same amount of money and time on the FortuneBuilders Mastery program, you end up. Flipping classrooms has been a “21st Century Learning” fashion for some time. Ninja Writing: The Four Levels of Writing Mastery. Practice, Practice, Practice. Today I would call that flipped learning because the soldiers watched short lessons and then practiced to mastery in the classroom. These projects were wonderfully effective, as described in of this 5-part series of posts. In 1972, I had the opportunity to buy a small private 4th-12th grade school run by some people who already had ten or more years of experience with flipped learning. The entire school used flipped learning. Our success in helping students catch up and then keep up with their courses, allowed us to expand from 75 students in Corte Madera, California, to campuses in Palo Alto and Berkeley with a total enrollment of 450. These learning successes turned me into a vocal advocate for flipped learning. I thought then that every teacher in every subject should switch to a flipped classroom. By 1985, I realized that most classes in most high schools and colleges were likely to continue to be lecture/discussion, with the students expected to “learn by doing” as homework. It seemed to me that there was a central problem in that conventional approach that led to poor outcomes for many students. The poor outcomes are still with us and include: high dropout rates in high schools and colleges, only 30% of the population getting college degrees, and many people being unprepared for the available, good jobs in a world of increasing automation and globalization. I think the central problem is that almost everyone, including educators, students, parents, and politicians, thinks more about teaching than learning. They focus, for example, on how well teachers present instruction. Those of us in flipped learning know that it is more useful to focus on helping students to do the work of learning by practicing to mastery. There are, of course, educators who tell this to students. In colleges, especially those with open enrollment, deans often give this advice to an auditorium full of entering students: “We expect you to spend 2 hours outside of class studying, for every one hour in class. Look at the person to your right and the person on your left. Next fall, one of the three of you will no longer be here. Do your homework!” Unfortunately, that advice is rarely sufficient. In community colleges nationwide, only 1 in 5 entering students will either get a degree or go on to a four-year college. Four-year colleges do better, with about 55% of entering students earning degrees. As I thought about conventional lecture/discussion courses in high school and college, it seemed that many students did well in them and liked them. It was also clear that the faculty and schools were reasonably happy and not very interested in changing that model. I thought maybe it would be possible to train students to do better in lecture/discussion courses. Here’s the story. Student Success Courses I started from the idea that school success starts with learning the subjects. Other skills, like test taking, help. But, it seems to me, that many students didn’t do the fundamentals: learn by doing, get help quickly, and persevere to mastery. So, I set these objectives. After taking my Student Success course, students would regularly do these things in their other courses. • Expect to learn primarily by practicing what you are learning to do. • Prepare to practice by listening to lectures, watching videos, and reading books. • Get help immediately while practicing, from friends, classmates, teachers, or a study group. Strike a balance between giving up too soon and struggling too long. • Continue practicing to mastery, regardless of the time required. Doing these four things take work. Even if students believed these steps would enable them to learn their subjects, would they do them? What were the incentives to motivate them after they left my class? Based on my experience, I made these assumptions about motivation. First, I assumed that every teenager and adult in the U.S. Knew the value of education. In other words, no matter how they were doing in school and no matter they said about it, they wanted to be educated. Second, I knew that success is motivating. People like to do things they are good at. Bugz in the attic download youtube. In addition, they like to get better at things they can already do to some extent. So, I decided the real barrier to motivating students was not the work involved, but lack of confidence and uncertainty. People are sensibly hesitant to try something new. They also balk to do the work if they don’t think they can succeed. These assumptions led us to design a course in which students would have success with a series of learning assignments of increasing difficulty. They would also experience that overall, they could excel in school with less work than it took to just get. Finally, they would experience getting smarter. By definition, a person’s IQ can’t go up. But that’s a problem with the definition of IQ. People who graduate high school able to do algebra, calculus, speak a new language and write good essays are smarter than people who can’t. My First Attempt To try out these ideas, I put an ad in the local newspaper in the summer of 1985: “High school and college students wanted to test a Student Success course. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. To 1 p.m., for three weeks.” I hired 15 students. The results were amazing. One 13-year-old said, “It isn’t that I thought I was stupid, but I feel like my brain woke up.” A girl who had just graduated from high school said, “I expected that I would start College of Marin in the fall, flunk out around Thanksgiving, and start the new year cleaning rooms at a local motel. Now I realize that I have to learn some things before I’ll be ready for college courses. I called the college yesterday afternoon. They told me I can take remedial writing and math and that in about a year I’ll be ready for college. I’m a good reader and I have an interest in Psychology, so I’ve decided I can handle that one regular course along with the makeup work.” One of the boys in the group came to class one day wearing a sports jacket, slacks and a tie. He told the class, “I see now how I can do a lot better in school. Microsoft flight simulator x deluxe edition full download. So, I decided to come today dressed as the smartest guy on the bus rather than the dumbest.” How About Pubic Speaking? Over that winter, I worked with a small team to refine this flipped learning Student Success course to achieve the outcomes listed above. To put a bow on the package, I wanted a big experience as the centerpiece of the course. At that time, various experiential programs were popular. Some of those were directed at students’ self-esteem and self-confidence, which was definitely of interest to us. Most of these programs were focused on non-academic skills, like white-water rafting, mountain climbing, or wilderness survival. However, it seems to me that, for many people, there is not much transfer of self-confidence from one activity to another. Then, my personal difficulty with shyness gave me an idea. As a student, I was terrified to speak in public. This stayed with me through my PhD and into my career as a rocket scientist. I was accomplished and bright, but I was anguished in front of an audience. CD Ark is een herinnering aan de glorietijd met de Australische groep Dead Can Dance. Nu zonder Lisa Gerrard.
